Abstract: Hospital auditing has been consolidated as an essential tool for management and quality improvement in healthcare services. Given the increasing complexity of clinical processes and the need to optimize resources, the implementation of control and evaluation mechanisms that ensure efficiency and patient safety becomes fundamental. In this context, this study aims to analyze the relevance of hospital auditing in optimizing clinical processes, investigating its impact on care improvement, compliance with regulatory guidelines, and the financial sustainability of healthcare institutions. The adopted methodology is based on a literature review, exploring different approaches to clinical, operational, and financial auditing, as well as their applicability in hospital governance. The analysis highlights that auditing plays a strategic role in identifying failures and implementing corrective measures, promoting continuous quality improvement and waste reduction. Additionally, its contribution to transparency and professional accountability is emphasized, essential factors for strengthening patient and societal trust in healthcare institutions. It is concluded, therefore, that hospital auditing not only ensures the efficiency of clinical processes but also fosters the adoption of best care practices, making it indispensable for modern and sustainable hospital management.
