Abstract: This article aims to analyze the nonverbal sociocommunicative resources that babies use to demonstrate their social participation in proposed pedagogical activities. The subjects of the investigation are fifteen children, aged between six and twenty months, belonging to the age group called nursery I of a municipal Early Childhood Education institution in the city of Aracaju/SE. The data were generated through an intervention-research, with the support of resources such as photographs, field notes, and descriptions in interactive situations. The children's social participation was observed during six pedagogical activities planned and directed by the researcher, carried out weekly. It was possible to verify that the sociocommunicative resources frequently used by the babies to demonstrate their interest in the proposed activities were the direction of their gaze, followed by the use of their bodies in movements, gestures, postures, smiles, and rapid vocalizations. The results are consistent with data from other research that confirms the socio-communicative power of babies and reveals their social protagonism in the (re)actions in which they expressed their preferences or rejected the pedagogical practices directed at them, and the importance of the teacher who works with babies in order to recognize the social participation of children.
