Abstract: Brazilian agriculture has high productivity, particularly in grain production such as soybean and maize, but it depends heavily on nutrient replacement and the use of mineral fertilizers, most of which are imported. In this context, soil remineralization through the application of rock powders (stonemeal) has emerged as a sustainable alternative to improve the fertility of tropical soils, which are often nutrient-depleted due to intense weathering processes. This study, based on a bibliographic review of publications from the last two decades, discusses the contribution of soil remineralizers as sources of macro- and micronutrients and their potential to enhance soil quality. Rock powders, especially those derived from basaltic rocks, can gradually release nutrients, increase soil pH, improve cation exchange capacity, and enhance water retention and biological activity in soils. In addition, remineralization may contribute to carbon sequestration and help mitigate climate change. The analyzed studies indicate that the use of remineralizers can improve soil chemical properties and increase crop productivity while reducing dependence on conventional chemical fertilizers. Therefore, when integrated with regenerative agriculture practices, soil remineralization represents a promising strategy to promote soil restoration, agricultural sustainability, and food security.
