Abstract: Introduction: Complementary therapies are strategies that analyze and help maintain the health of those who need it. They have the purpose of preventing and improving people's lives, helping them in practices that may be allied to the usual procedure of the problem, seeking for development and quality of life. Complementary therapies provide relaxation and adaptation for the child within the ASD, for the family and the multiprofessional team, bringing improvements in the child's motor and behavioral results. Purpose: This research aims to analyze the scientific evidence on complementary therapies and the quality of life of families and children with ASD. Research method: This paper is an Integrative Review that used the PICO strategy (Patient, Intervention, Comparison and Outcome), along with six steps to prepare the guiding question. In this sense, a selection of descriptors was made, such as: “Autism Spectrum Disorder”, “Complementary Therapies”, “Quality of Life”, “Family Members” and “Autism”. For the crossing of information, the Boolean expression “AND” “OR” was used. The databases were: Lilacs, Medline and Pubmed, in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The research took place in October and November 2022. The Results: First, 515 indexed searches were identified. After applying the filters associated with the inclusion and exclusion criteria, it was possible to reach 15 articles. Regarding the place where the surveys were carried out, it is possible to observe a very plural sample, with Brazil with the largest number, with six surveys, followed by the United States and Taiwan with two surveys each. United Kingdom, Denmark, China, Canada and Spain register only one survey each, respectively. These researches showed several complementary therapies, such as: equestrianism, music therapy, swimming, theater, physical exercise, soccer, food and reading. The Conclusion: All research has proven improvements in the quality of life of children with ASD, enabling family participation in these moments of social interaction and learning.
