Abstract: This article discusses the representation of linguistic phenomena present in memes from the Suricate Seboso page and their potential for teaching Portuguese. The study seeks to analyze the phenomena of linguistic variation evidenced in selected memes and reflect on the possibilities of their use in everyday school life. Authors such as Antunes (2009), Bagno (2007), Labov (2008) and Geraldi (2015) support the understanding that heterogeneity and variationist phenomena are natural and inherent to language. Therefore, the research aims to analyze how linguistic variations can be worked on in the Portuguese language discipline through memes. From a methodological point of view, the research has a qualitative character, as it is a literature review, in addition to an analysis of the content of the Suricate Seboso page. In fact, the article contributes to the reflection on the teaching of Portuguese from a sociolinguistic perspective, showing that the use of popular memes can be an effective strategy to bring students closer to linguistic reality.
